RAWALPINDI: General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited Martyrs’ Monument on Defense Day on Sunday and laid a wreath and presented Fateha, reports ARY News.
According to details, the main ceremony of the Defense Day was held at the headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to pay tribute to the martyrs.
A ceremony in connection with the Defense and Martyrdom Day was also held at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad. Navy chief laid a wreath at the memorial of martyrs and presented Fateha.
An impressive ceremony for changing the guard was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, as the country today celebrates the day of defense across the country to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis.
A cadet from the Asghar Khan Academy of the Pakistani Air Force (PAF) who came down smartly accepted the ceremonial guard duties at the mausoleum. Air Fish Marshal Shakil Ghazanfar was the main guest.
In Lahore, an elegant exchange was also arranged at Allama Iqbal’s mausoleum where a contingent of Punjab Rangers took over guard duties.
The country today celebrates Defense Day across the country to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis and reaffirms its commitment to defend the motherland against all threats.

The day starts with 31 gun salutes at the federal capital and 21 gun salutes at capitals. Special prayers were offered to Fajr in mosques for the progress and prosperity of the country and the independence of the occupied Kashmir from the cruel claws of India. Fateha and Koran Khawani are also being held for the martyrs.
In his message on Defense Day, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that September 6 is a day in Pakistan’s glorious history that is commemorated as a symbol of courage, strong will, and unparalleled spirit of sacrifice by the country’s brave army.
